Drill Press Safety Chip Shields
These sturdy safety chip shields provide protection from flying chips, coolant, and rotating parts. The shield can be attached to any ferrous surface on the machine by an 80-lb. pull, 3 1/4" diameter magnetic base. These cast-aluminum drill press shields are available in 2-tier or 3-tier models which provides 3" to 6" travel of the drill press. The top holder attaches to the quill of the drill. Telescoping Drill Press Shields and Drill Chuck Guards
These durable shields offer all-around operator protection, providing visibility of the component being drilled without adversely affecting the operation. The drill shield consists of two major components - the drill shield holder which is clamped to the quill of the machine, and the drill shield itself. The drill shield clips into the holder and is held in position by three spring-loaded ball catches. The shield can, therefore, be completely removed from the holder for chuck or drill bit changes. Electrically Interlocked Heavy-Duty Drill Shields
These electrically interlocked heavy-duty shields are ideal when you need extra safety for your drill presses. When the shield is swung out of position, the positive contacts on the microswitch open, sending a stop signal to the machine control. The safety microswitch electrical wires are furnished with a protective cover and connect to the safety circuit of the machine that switches off the control to the movement of the spindle. All safety microswitches are mounted in an enclosed housing with an enclosure rating of IP 67.
The shield consists of a high impact-resistant, transparent polycarbonate semi-octagonal front shield that provides operator protection from flying chips and coolant. These rigid-arm magnetic-base shields can be used on lathes, small milling machines, drills, grinders, band saws, etc. These shields can be attached to any ferrous surface on the machine by an 80-lb. pull magnetic base. On/Off Magnetic-Base Shields
These versatile On/Off magnet-base shields can be used on lathes, drill presses, milling machines, grinders, or any equipment that has a flat, ferrous mounting surface. The heavy-duty magnetic base is 2 3/4" square with a V-groove and measures 3" high. The 200-lb holding force keeps the shield in place when the magnet is on. If an adequate flat, ferrous mounting surface is not available, an optional steel mounting plate (Part No. FKT-1106; see below) can be permanently attached to the machine to hold the magnetic base. This one-box SAFS-300 is designed for installation on 120-V (15-A maximum) machines. When installed correctly, the SAFS-300 will prevent the machine from automatically or unintentionally restarting when a power interruption occurs. The machine cannot restart until power has been restored, the machine has been turned off, and the reset button pushed. More information/order | SAFS-200 also available.
Drill Press Motor Controls
This control is designed to replace the drum switch type motor control used on milling and drilling machines. It also meets or exceeds OSHA 29 CFR 1910.147 (lockout/tagout), ANSI B11.8 (drilling, milling, and boring), and NFPA 79 (electrical standard for industrial machinery.)
This control reverses the motor "on the fly" when drilling and tapping operations are required. It is a simple solution for this type of operation. To start the motor in forward or reverse, press the appropriate button. Once the motor is running, press the button for the opposite direction to change the rotation of the motor. A motor jog/run selector switch may also have been furnished. A red emergency-stop palm button is included. More information/order
